alternative method
after step 3, the end line provide two points for "edit path by node(F2)" tool to create a new line segment
step 4, select the two nodes, then "join selected endnodes with new segment" tool
step 5, select the segment(when the visual hand overview of the pointer changed) or, click a node and shift select the other node of the segment created in step 4
step 6, insert new nodes into selected segments
the new node should be on the median/bisector segment that you want to create
step 1,2 and 3 are not necessary if two points creating same lenght to sommet are already available
