Beginners' Questions Subscript/Superscript Rescaling

I have some text with superscripts in it. I'd like to change the font size and have the superscripts keep their relative size and position. I tried to do this by selecting the text and changing the font size, but Inkscape seems to set all characters to the main font size, so my superscripts become way too big. The same happens with subscripts.

Is there a way to keep the correct size ratio when changing the font size?

    Before:

Expected: a faithful rescaling of the above.

    Actual:

Details: Inkscape version 1.3.2 on MacOS 14.4.1. Text created directly in Inkscape, superscript created with the button as described in the documentation.

I would classify this as a bug. It is one of a number of occasions when the style of the <text> element and the <tspan> do not change as expected.

Lets say we create a text of size 18px and end it with a superscript, the style of the <text> is font-size:18px, the style of the <tspan> is font-size 65%

Now change this text size to 20px, both the style of the <text> and <tspan> are changed to font-size:20px.

A work around is using the text tool select the superscript text and click the superscript icon in the tool function bar, first time cancels superscript, second time reinstates it this time with the <tspan> style now correctly font-size:65%.
