Before posting this, I've been looking at past topics on the subject of "Cropping" and "Cropping photos" in InkscapeΒ (plus a YouTube video) and they all seem to explain how to trace a section of a photo manually - often using the Bezier tool -Β and then remove that section. But what I am hoping to do is to import a photo and then trim the sides so it is of a specific rectangular shape - so, definitely with straight sides! I will then overlay text and maybe some other artwork.
But is this type of straight edge cropping of an imported photo possible in Inkscape, please?
Draw the rectangle of a size above the bitmap that you want to keep - select image plus rectangle - go Object->Clip->Set Clip - context click on clipped image and go "Crop image to Clip" from the drop down menu - done
