Beginners' Questions New Layer Name Settings

I have a document in which I want to have several folders each with a number of subfolders, but I want the subfolder names to be the same in each of the top level folders (e.g. folders A, B, and C, each with the subfolders X, Y, and Z, so the subfolders are A/X, A/Y, A/Z, B/X, B/Y, B/Z, CX, C/Y, C/Z), but when I add a new subfolder to a top level folder and tell it to name it the name I want, if there's already a folder or layer with that name in a different top level folder, it'll automatically add a " 1" on the end of the folder/layer name (e.g. folder A/X, A/Y, and A/Z already exist, but when I try to add folder called "X" to Folder B, it turns it into "X 1"), which I then have to remove manually. I would really prefer to turn off the auto adding of numbers if at all possible, but I haven't been able to find anything like that in the settings, nor have I been able to find any relevant information on google or in the FAQ or anywhere. Is there a way to have it name the new layer/folder *exactly* what I type in the textbox, even if it's identical to another layer/folder elsewhere in the document? When I copy and paste a layer, it puts the exact same name, and after creating a new layer/folder, I can change the name to be identical to another, so it's not that the program can't handle having multiple layers with the same name, but I can't seem to figure out how to get to not append a number on the end when I try to just create one with the same name.

Why not just use a text editor to create your document structure?

    EDIT

I understand better having tried the process. I'd call that a bug. You can report it:Β https://inkscape.org/forums/beyond/

It might be quicker overall to just make another svg with the layout you require, then copy and paste from that document to the current document each time you need a new branch ?Β

Using Left click, then Ctrl+C, then Ctrl+V ?Β

    I've attached an example.
