Hi, everyone. I'm learning Inkscape on the fly and since I'm familiar with the general concept from using other software, I find it to be relatively easy, which is nice. And when I have to Google, it almost always leads me here, so I know this forum offers a wealthΒ of assistance. BUT... I would love it if ONE developer would institute all the things I love from various other software.
For instance, in another software I use, they have "Smart Guides"Β If I use a Bezier tool to create the letter "K" for example. As I'm drawing out the shape, the smart guides tell me when I'm aligned with the node opposite of where I am. So, if I were starting to draw the top right-hand side of the K, I would know that I was in perfect alignment with the top left part because the Smart Guides pop up to tell me. If Inkscape has that feature, I don't know where it is.
As such, I have a couple places along this path where I'd like to make the space between the nodes a little wider, but I can't figure out the shortcut keys, if there are any, to keep the path straight as I widen the gap.
I'm on a MBP running Big Sur, using Inkscape version 1.0.2.Β
PS - is it always so buggy with frozen grayed out pop-up (right-click) menus and grabbing the wrong items, etc or is that just me?
In a complex path having straight segments, I'd probably make a new helper line from node to node and convert that to a guide (Object>Object to guides. (Shift+G)), then delete the helper line and drag the node along the guide (snap nodes to guides active).

Features can be requested with the developers. Guidance here:Β https://inkscape.org/forums/beyond/how-to-report-bugs-or-request-new-features/.
Sweet!! I'll start a list :)
Is there any way to keep a line straight when adjusting nodes?

(Faster to doΒ it than type it, lol.)
