I've been fussing over grids. When I make adjustments it in pref's I get no visual changes. Only when i open a new instance of inkscape do i see the changes I've made. If i re-open my saved work it'll be the old grid settings even though when i open pref's it shows the new adjustments eg red grid lines. I re-installed Inkscape on my Windows user profile but it only seems to have remembered all my pref's including the red settings. Don't know where I'm going wrong.

Grid(s) is stored in your Inkscape SVG documents. Use the Grid tab in Document properties.
User settings is not removed when you uninstall Inkscape. The location of user folders is found in Preferences - System.
