Our magazine 'Bright Old Sparks' provides stimulating and challenging content for people affected by dementia. The puzzles and quizzes are simple but not childish, exploiting the experiences and background we all accumulated in our lives.   

I use a Wacom Intuos Paper tablet to sketch ideas and cartoons on paper, then import SVGs to InkScape for cleanup and further development. I pass camera-ready SVG artwork to our publisher each month.
I use Blender to mock up 3D perspective frameworks of rooms and settings, which I print and draw on, then import to Inkscape.
I also used Blender for the promo video - the mag covers were Photoshopped by a colleague, I have Affinity for pixel-painting.
All these apps work together really well - I work on a Ryzen PC and an M1 Mac, just use each tool for what it does best!
