In inkscape it seems to me that it is not possible to Clone a united group of objects along a path, or am I wrong? It would be very useful.

I´d say yes:
Almost like Polygon says, but not the single track but a group of cloned objects
To be clear: yes a group of objects can be distributed along a path:
Inkscape doesn’t allow cloning a group of objects along a path directly. You can convert the group into a symbol or combine it into a single path as a workaround. Another option is manually duplicating and arranging the objects.
