I have been using Inkscape (v1.3.2) for a while but then I starting getting a strange format to text that I have added using the Text Tool. The attached is an example of Arial Normal 12 pt, but it is barely legible because it is "bloated". What can be causing this?
I am not sure why the stroke is being applied to my text, but even though I click on the big red X (which works to elininate the stroke), I have to always get rid of it when starting a new file or edit an existing file. Is there a setting where it is perhaps set as a default?

Thanks
Seems Inkscape added accidentally a Stroke to the font. Get rid of it.
Most likely a stroke has been applied to the text, select the text and Shift-click big red X bottom-left of Inkscape screen to turn it off.
Super, thanks guys!

Type some text, ensure it has fill and no stroke.
Go to Preferences > Tools >Text Tool and select Style of new objects - This tool's own style
Excellent, thank you!
