Here’s a vector draw-over study of the famous painting, The Desperate Man, by Gustave Courbet, painted around 1845ish during the Romantic Era. According to my single required semester of introductory fine arts in college, Romantic Era art often showcased deep emotional expression and dramatic lighting, both of which pretty much define The Desperate Man as a painting. For this study, I drew my line art directly on top of the original painting, and then I rendered the colors through visual observation.
