I do not have ilustrator and hence cannot test if this works, but this video seems to address the problem (which probably arises because illustrator exports with a DPI of 72) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hcrsi-F-Gc
Hm..., once again Idk if this works but I'd suggest trying to change the display units (at the top of the document properties dialog) to inches and then setting the scale to 72.
Hi, I'm exporting an SVG from Illustrator into Inscape and it scales it smaller than it should be.
The file in illustrator is 200x200mm and when I import it to Inkscape it is 150.265x150.265mm?
I have checked the document setting and have it set to mm for display units and scale set to 1.000.

That just makes it tiny. think he is using an older version of inkscape?

96/72dpi is the exact aspect ratio of 1:1,333 like 200/150 - there you have it.
Soooo.....what do I need to change?
ah I see, makes sense.
You can try Preferences->Imported Images->Default import resolution: 72 dpi
No joy, sill the same size

Yup - not working. Confirmed.;-(
And File->Import= DPI for rendered SVG ist working as expected and ignores adjusted values on macOS.
Have you tried that as well?
Yep, same size regardless of what I set in And File->Import= DPI for rendered SVG (on windows 10)
(and double-checked, Illustrator screen DPI is set at 72)
From Martin in Chat:"
To keep units correct, they need to choose the options that says something like "keep physical sizes"
Although check the svg, maybe it has a viewBox specified that's al bugged out."
I´d think you might export with 96dpi from AI - if available. I may ask why Inkscape at all in the end?
A new extension in developer version might help in the future. Or just use the XML-editor.
Maybe this:
Here is a screen grab of Illustrator export of a 10" x 10" rectangle.
NB no apparent choice of PPI.
More about the issue and the new extension if you want to test it.
