Inkscape 1.4
Choose the star tool - set five points
Drag the mouse - the star is there
But it is always slightly unintentionally rotated, because it is hard to control mouse movement while dragging
How to prevent this ?
Tried pressing Ctrl - without success - it just snaps the angle, but I don't want any angle
Also, how to remove all rotations from an already (multiple times) rotated star ?
I tried in Transform docker - Rotate tab - entering 0 value - doesn't work
By holding Ctrl you can snap it to 0°.
Important to note the angle is still affected at which angle you are dragging with the mouse when drawing the star
If it's a pre-drawn star, not converted to a path, you can try opening the xml editor -Shift+Ctrl+X-
to edit out any transformation present. It will probably remove any additional scaling/skewing/translation,
since they are usually merged into one transformation matrix with the rotation.
Other option would be rotating a pre-drawn shape manually, using snapping.
If object is converted to a path and the star has an even number of spokes it's much easier.
Drag a single horizontal/vertical guide line from the ruler and snap it to the object's rotational centre.
Then rotate object until a spoke snaps to said guide.
Needs some testing -works with paths. If star spoke is not snapping,
duplicate object -Ctrl+D-, convert to path -Ctrl+Shift+C- and rotate the two objects together as described.
For an odd number of spokes, snap a horizontal/vertical guide line and the object rotational centre to a spoke, rotate until another part snaps.
Preferably construct the rotational centre with another guide line, and snap the object rotational centre to said position.
By holding Ctrl you can snap it to 0°
No, it snaps but not not to 0 deg
the angle is still affected at which angle you are dragging
but the angle is never 0 deg whatever dragging angle is
It is a shape i.e. a five spokes star - not a path
Deleting transform item in xml editor removes all transformations, not jus rotations
I can get some close result using ruler guidelines, but never cannot be sure is it mathematically 0 degrees
