It´s driving me insane, I use pan + ctrl a lot but I don´t want to rotate the canvas, please just let us turn it off or at least change the keybinding for it.

Couldn't agree more. Canvas rotation is extremely annoying as it happens frequently when I don't intend it (when I am simply trying to pan like I used to)!

Under Preferences -> Keyboard Shortcuts there is a Reset Rotation command which can be assigned a key command.  I set mine to numpad zero which works wonderfully.  It's not as good as locking it but at least it can be easily reset to zero.

I think it has a use for some people but I's super annoying when you can't turn it off. Please, Inkscape developers, add feature to turn this of :)

There are shortcuts for canvas rotation. I just assigned some crazy shortcuts that I'd never use. Now system wants me to do these crazy shortcuts (which I never do, of course) to rotate canvas. SInce I don't don it - it doesn't rotate!

Problem solved! (I know it is ugly but it does the job. So, who cares...as long as it does what I want)

I was looking for that option and couldn't find it.  Where are those controls hidden?

That does not disable the Ctrl+Middle mouse button to rotate problem.  But that is where the Reset canvas rotation to zero option is located, as I mentioned that earlier on the 21st.

yes, you are right. sorry for misleading post. It somehow worked first (have no idea how) but later i discovered that it doesn't.

each time I have canvas rotated, i just enter zero here and it is back to normal.

CTRL+Mouse scroll is often used for zooming, I find it hard to believe it can't be disabled. Many people do not wish to ever enable this feature as it actually makes them less productive. It was an Impressive piece of programming, but its more gimmicky than useful to many, please don't force unwanted and unhelpful changes on users.

I agree, there should be an option to at least disable it, it is very annoying indeed.

I just got back on today and this is driving me insane. We HAVE to be able to turn it off, it's so counter intuitive. It's taking me way longer now to do simple stuff I used to do.

This is a real burden, has any one found out how to disable it?

I have made an AutoHotKey Script that will intercept the Ctrl+MMB if you use it and only send MMB to Inkscape. I have it posted here:

Just to close the thread, Inkscape 1.0.2 has added the new "Lock rotation" option to prevent unwanted canvas rotations. View/Canvas Orientation/Lock Rotation.

Is there a way to always have that option on by default?

Yes, in Preferences/Interface there is the proper option.

I hope this feature gets disabled as soon as possible. It's really frustrating when you use mousewheel to pan around.

You can lock that feature as Marco Riva explains above your comment.
