@mrks9 Cool images; what‘s the rectangular shape in the center?

Thank you @Polygon  If you mean the one above the icon, I tried to make a kind of optical illusion by merging layers. The idea was that the square, although it belongs to the background, would seem to go through the clock.

    😂

That´s what I`ve guessed. But find it kinda distracting as I´m not expecting a transparent centre: where is the drive? 😉

@Polygon If you think about it realistically, I know it doesn't work. But hey, it's all about playing 😊

I was replicating a tutorial for the center optical illusion image and ended up with a clock for the challenge 😄 In blues and creams in Inkscape, but when I moved it to Gimp it became black and silver.

    Hi,

I made it 2 years ago for a school project. At this time the book "The Art of Computer Designing" by Osamu Sato was my first source of inspiration.

Funny fact: Do you know why clocks and watches in ads almost always show about 10:10 or 1:50?
For one simple reason: aesthetics! It’s all about composition! Imagine if a displayed clock showed, let’s say, 9:35 or 3:05 or 8:25… not as appealing, right?
The funny thing is that when digital clocks and watches came out, many advertisers kept displaying that 10:10 hour, even though it didn’t make any sense anymore.
They could easily display 12:00, and it wouldn’t matter. Nowadays, you don’t see it as often, but it still happens.😉

@mrks9 I was wondering where did I see that origami before?🤪 Yes, it always remains beautiful!
Your clock seems like from a parallel universe If it worked counter clockwise, it could have been a time machime to the past🧐

Hey @Gaillycool . Nice to see you back in action🙂

    Sunclock
Once again I made use of the Film Grain filter. For the sun's inner body I used the Chalk & Sponge filter above an object with a "golden" gradient.
The original sun design is not mine. I just reworked (with the use of power strokes), the design I found HERE . Although it's an excellent piece of work, my guess is that this not an original design either,
because the face doesn't look very Aztec to me -they call it "Aztec Sun Face".

Almost too late for this month, but not yet ;).

Here's a remix of Dali's classic “Persistance de la Mémoire” (or "melting watches").
The main golden clock - entirely redrawn from scratch - is inspired by a bronze sculpture "2 Montres Molles" (Foundry GUSTIN, Paris, 1968-1974), itself based upon an original Dali's drawing.

I overused clipped blurred technique to obtain irregular but cutting edge gradients. The broken hourglass was a little challenge in itself and I had to try many things to obtain the desired result : combination of various blending modes, mainly Product and Superposition + highlights.

Time spent : between 20 and 30 hours.
