Thanks, I experimented a bit and I can work with these answers. BTW am I correct the Voronoi Pattern in Inkscape 1.3 changed to a Voronoi Diagram extension? This one seems to use elements as seeds to generate the pattern, which gives more freedom in designing/tweaking a pattern. But takes some more time to create.
Is it possible to create a voronoi diagram within the boundaries of a shape/path? It seems as the extension always uses a rectangular boundary box.
No, but you can use [Path > Cut Path] to trim the lines to any boundary.

I can't comment. It's an extension that I don't use so I don't know how it's evolved.
