Adding a new point to a line only sets the point in the middle of the line, feature request to drag new point along the line.
When adding a point the new point is inserted at the middle, which makes a lot of since. What I would like is to be able to adjust where that point gets inserted.
I could see using this feature for all points, in an "edit point mode" a point could be dragged along the line (the line would have to be be frozen in place). Then the point is anchored and the line is reshaped.

Just hold the Ctrl and Alt keys together and click with the node tool where you want to add the point.
I created a request some time back to move a node along a curve.

Also, see this keyboard and mouse reference for more ideas about moving and handling nodes.
