    Hi,

I am into graphics and learning. Recently I got a gig on designing embroidery patch but the requirement was it should be machine readable so that it can be produced massively. Is there any function that can do this job or kindly guide me towards right direction. I love inkscape as its free. TIA

On the home/hobbyist side of things, the software determines if a design can be managed by the embroidery machine. I've created SVG files for my sister, who then uses the software for her sewing machine to convert it to the appropriate format sent to the machine.

It would be useful to know what format files are acceptable by the machine(s) expected to create the work.

Sure. I would ask for file format required but svgs did not worked as I did send them high quality PDF, svg files

Just confirmed. They need PES or EMB format which I am unable to find in inkscape. For reference I have created merch for Hunting Manual and in discussion of creating stitching ready files. I will do further research from other resources as well. Thank you for guidance!

Would you know what software is being used and maybe what machine?

Just an update that might be helpful. There's an extension called InkStitch that converts SVG images to any number of embroidery formats. Individual lines become zigzag stitches (default) and fills become filled stitches (default). There appear to be cascaded menus to change these features, but my understanding of this area is limited. I didn't experiment with changing those features. I did confirm that a .PES file was created, using an online embroidery viewer and a simple SVG file. InkStitch requires v.1.0 or higher, if I recall correctly.

I just started using Inkstitch for this and it worked very well.  My only design so far was for a friends business.  Inkstitch worked great at automatically converting a SVG into a basic design, but installing and figuring out how to use it took watching a few tutorials.

I'm working on improving her design.  The basic one fills in, but requires some extra steps to do a satin stitch.  It also takes some knowledge of embroidering, since you will be doing things that determine the number of stitches per inch, etc.  Many machines can fix some of this at the time, but it's usually better if you can get it how you want it with software ahead of time.
