Beyond the Basics Document/Canvas scroll bars

Something strange (since last update?): The actual scroll bars at the bottom and right-hand side of the page (the ones you can turn On/Off with Ctrl-B) are pretty thin - thinner than full width of the area they're in - it's sort of hard to explain - you need to "aim" at the thin bar itself to allow you to pan the document rather than anywhere on the wider area like you usually do in Windows... there doesn't seem to be any option to make them wider. What also works is if you click to the right or left of the bar inside the wider area and then the viewable area pans - but sometimes you want to control the panning so you need to grab the scroll bar itself and now it's more difficult as you need to position your mouse right on it and click... I hope this explains my question clearly - I guess I could attach a screen grab here but I also know that some people don't like to open attachments...

    Thanks in advance,

    Dani

It looks like the issue is being explored: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/issues/2198

Somebody did it for me! Thanks Jehoschua

So it's a real issue that needs fixing... A lot livelier discussion on gitlab than here... a bit over my head - these people are using some magical custom code somewhere to fix this - way over my head...

"Besides, the scrollbar itself is still wide, only the bar inside is thinner" - it begs the question WHY? Who's the genius who thinks this is "cool" but harder to use?

Please, Inkscape, if you are listening - give us a simple option/selection to fix this!

Tyler - I am not a "coding wiz" - are there little fixes like the ones mentioned there (gitlab) available to normal people by downloading a patch etc.? Are there intermediate releases of Inkscape easily available between major new releases? I have just recently updated my version as I was perfectly happy with the old previous one (.92?) - I am now at Inkscape 1.1 (c68e22c387, 2021-05-23)

BTW look at the beautiful scroll bar at the right side of the box I am using right now to write this message!

    To all here - thanks,

    Dani
