Beyond the Basics Big Performance Issues with Inkscape 1.0

So, while Inkscape 1.0 was still in beta phase, I tested it, and noticed it got kind of sluggish, not with the rendering but more so the program itself.
things seem to happen with a slight delay and a bit of lag, and then the program would crash at random (sometimes with NO prior warning and NO backup)
Unfortunately, it still somewhat is like that in the final version. It is not crashing quite as often, but the other problems are still there and I STILL got a crash (with no warning or backup again) from simply trying to open the preferences menu.
Any idea of what's going on? Maybe there's something I could change to make it run like it used to in 0.92.X?

I am also having random crashes still, and problems with the UI sometimes becoming unresponsive.

I've noticed something similar and also a correlation with the amount of preferences configured. If preferences.xml is deleted and nothing is configured in Preferences at all, application runs better for a while. I've tried to narrow down issue to some particular preference without luck. So I'm not reporting issue for now (basically the first thing bug report guide video says is to delete preferences.xml). The issue is most notable when Inkscape is started but no dockable items appear on icon click unless you invoke Preferences or other floating dialog.
