Coming from the Adobe world (which I've left behind to do everything in open-source software), I'm used to holding down ALT and drag an item with the left mouse button held down to copy it. In Inkscape, I can do this with the spacebar, but I've got two issues with it:
I need to time pressing down the spacebar right after I click, since otherwise it'll active the 'drag view' function and I'll end up just dragging the view around
I need to release the spacebar quickly, otherwise it'll keep making copies and I'll end up with 10-20 unwanted copies.
I'm using Inkscape 1.3.2, am I doing it wrong? Is this a bug?
I know what youΒ΄re talking about (as it works on macOS across pretty all apps) - but it seams very easy in Inkscape as well: Just click-and-hold with left mouse button and with Selector tool on the object you want to duplicate - Now tap the space bar very briefly as if you were typing one single letter - this already creates a duplicate, which you can now drag away:
Aaaaah so hold down the mouse-button, tap spacebar only once. So basically, I was doing it wrong. Seems to work! Now to reprogram my muscle memory! Thanks!
