Is there a way to do that or to customize the shortcuts so it becomes possible ?

I always waste time looking for the pivot in a mess of paths and guides. Being able to just click somewhere and have it under my cursor would be awesome.

I agree, it can be hard to find them sometimes.  I don't know of any tricks really.

Might be nice if there was an option to make them bigger, or bold or red - something like that.  Unlike nodes, they don't change color according to the color behind them.  That's when I always have trouble finding them, if the object has a dark color, or I moved it to where there's a dark color.  Oh, or if I've snapped them to a 90 degree corner, they're virtually invisible.  I just have to remember where they are, in that case.  Or else move the object around to make it visible.

Actually that might be the easiest fix, to make them change color like nodes, according to what's behind it.  There's that flashing red line for paths, that was added a few years ago.  Really annoying, which I have disabled.  But that would be a perfect effect for the rotation center!  When you mouse over the object, the rotation center flashes briefly?

This message tells how to make a feature request.  https://inkscape.org/forums/beyond/how-to-report-bugs-or-request-new-features/

They do for me, but that's often not enough.

It does for me too (not briefly though, it stays red as long as your cursor is on it). But that's not helpful if you don't know where it is in the first place. It's only helpful for knowing that your mouse cursor is close enough to grab it it (like for nodes).

Anyway, thanks and there you go: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/issues/939

As a workaround, if it's really hard to find, use the XML editor to reset the rotation center. For this, delete the attributes 'inkscape:transform-center-x' and '...-y'. Then the center is back in the object's middle.
