It seems to me that, in older versions of Inkscape, when you cut an object from one layer, clicked on another layer and used "Paste in Place", the object would be in the same position in the new layer. But, now in version 1.2, this is not working. The object ends up in theΒ root.Β I then have to use the right-click menu andΒ "Move to Layer" to get the object to the layer where I want it.Β
Is this a known bug? Is there something I'm missing?
