Of course, the best way to get good answers is to ask good questions!

Your question has a much better chance of gettingย fast, good answers if you follow these simple tips:

    1. Create a new topic for your question in the appropriate forum.ย Do not add your question to an unrelated topic.
    2. Describe what you have found about the issueย by exploring Inkscape's Tutorials (in the Help menu),ย ย the Manual, the Release Notes, using the forum search, and by searching the web.
    3. Describe the source of the file: created with Inkscape, downloaded, imported from another program, etc.
    4. Describe the specific steps you took, the result you expected, andย the result that actually happened.
    5. Describe your OS (your computer'sย Operating System: Mac/Windows/Linux/etc.ย & version).
    6. Describe if Inkscape was newly installed, or upgraded from an earlier version.
    7. Describe the version of Inkscape and the installer you used (the file you downloaded from the web: .msi/.exe/.zip/appimage/other, PPA/Snap/Flatpak, dmg/otherย ).ย
    8. Describe any special hardware being used, like tablet/stylus, external drives or multiple monitors.
    9. Describe any helper/assistive programs or keyboard modifiers (macros, languages, etc.).

    Bonus points, if you:

    • Attach* a screenshot of the issue.
    • Attach* an example SVG file that has the issue.

*ย Posting links to outside hosts is also permitted, hotlinking (embedding) is not.

Most forum participants are other Inkscape users (not developers). We can help each other better and faster, with good questions.

    Can I add?

Give the Subjectย (title) of your post a helpful name.

Not just "Help" or "No Lines" or "Error".

Write a short summary so people have an idea of what it'sย aboutย before they openย the post. For example:

    • Include the name of the command used where possible.ย
    • Include a description if aย problem like "causes crash", "hasย error message", "has no result"
    • A question. like "How to save as a JPEG?"ย

    Pacaron Pacaron @Pacaron

Having an issue with just drawing a circle or eclipse. Seems I have made it into a pie chart: I can't seem to get rid of the wedge. It makes text-on-a-path impossible.

    I need a full circle/eclipse

    Mac Sonoma 14.6.1

    Inkscape:1.2.2.

Have a look at the properties of the circle tool in the top bar and the icon to the right to make it a whole circle again.
