I recently posted this to the Inkscape Subreddit and you might want to read the discussion there:
Hi everyone,
I’d like to propose a feature that could make Inkscape even more versatile, especially for display applications like headlines or logos. The idea is to add text distortion effects, so you can easily create curved or otherwise distorted text – similar to the “Word Art” feature in MS Word.
Currently, I sometimes use [external websites](https://vectordad.com/word-art-generator/shape/?dsnid=pinch&color=ff0000) where you can apply “Word Art Shapes” to text and download the results. It would be great if Inkscape had a built-in feature like this, allowing users to create such effects for headlines and logos directly within the software, without needing external tools.
I’m not a developer, so I can’t gauge how complex it would be to implement, but maybe there’s a way to integrate something like this or expand existing features. If there’s already a method to achieve this, I’d love to hear about it!
I’m including an example from the website I’ve been using to better illustrate what I mean.
Have you found the Envelope deformation Live Path Effect yet? Or tried node editing with the sculpting mode, or the Tweak tool? Otherwise, feel free to write an Inkscape extension for this, or if that already exists, with a compatible license, you could ask its author to apply for it to be included in the Inkscape codebase.
Currently, I'm using the Perspective/Envelope LPE as my preferred workaround, but unfortunately, it's a bit time-consuming since I have to edit each letter individually. My hand isn't well-trained enough for the Sculpt Tool and the Envelope Deformation LPE. Unfortunately, I can’t code and am therefore unable to create an extension myself. However, Reddit user CelticOneDesign has offered to donate $100 for the development of the proposed feature: https://www.reddit.com/r/Inkscape/comments/1g84gb4/comment/lswtik1/

Apparently an extension called Bezier Envelope exists, which does quite exactly what I am looking for, but unfortunately it seems to not properly work with recent Inkscape versions any more: https://github.com/shlomif/Bezier-Envelope-for-Inkscape
Oh, and there is mightyscape, which contains the extension, in an updated version. It might not be up-to-date enough, but it sure would be a better starting point.

And the Envelope deformation extension is another option, too.

(Also said Reddit user claims to already have contacted a developer regarding this feature.)
Why is this? Do you have an example to share?
I am going to upload a video showing how I try to achieve the desired effect and the problems I encounter. This might take a day or two.

Envelope LPE isn't too bad, either, and allows you to modify things 'live'. What is the blocker to using that one for you?
