Hello, I am trying to change the default permanently to inches. When I initially open Inkscape it shows inches but as soon as I open a document it shows Pixels. Here is what I did and maybe someone can tell me what I am doing wrong or if I am missing a step. Thanks - Joe
-Opened Property Documents
-Changed Display Units to IN
-Changed Custom Size Units to IN
-Selected File, Save Template
-Entered Name, Description and selected "Set as default template".
Thanks for your reply. I use the MacBook Pro (macOS Monterey Version 12.6.3).
It has been so long since I installed Inkscape. I downloaded Inkscape 1.0.0 from the internet. After I installed it I had to install some other software to be able to use it on the Mac. I have never done any upgrades to it. Thats about all the information I know (Sorry, not too tech savvy).
This sounds like a version that needed XQuartz and is outdated since many years. The on+ only address to download Inkscape is here: https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.2.2/ Unfortunately Montery and Inkscape are not fully compatible as a note at the download section will tell.
You need to know what kind of processor your MacBook Pro is running which you easily can find out by clicking the apple Icon on the upper left and go "About this Mac".
But before you update I highly recommend to use free Appcleaner.app to get rid off anything Inkscape installed from a former version and then get the newest to install.
