Over 2 decades ago, I used CorelDraw to make patterns for Leather Handbags & Wallets. Back then I could export each pattern piece dimensions (length, width) to Excel. I could use this information for material planning and cost calculations. Later, almost 2 decades now, till recently I had been using Optitex, which gives option to export much more information like quantity of pattern pieces, material code, perimeter of each pattern piece and area of each piece.

Is there such a possibility available with Inkscape? If it is not available now, is there a possibility for future to expect with Open Office or Excel?

    Thank You!

    It depends.

    Python is installed with Inkscape.

csv is a standard library which is included with python.

That means that data can be exported to a .csv spreadsheet which can be opened by excel, openoffice or anything that supports .csv.

The Inkscape extension system also supports boundingbox data / path length and path area.

So it's doable, just needs a bit of python coding.
