Embroidery and InkStitch Newbie: How to match color to thread?

    Hello, all,

I've taken an emoji, converted it to a SVG and want to incorporate it into a logo. I'd like to take the colors originally present in the emoji and use the thread that comes closest to it. I'm limited to Madeira Burmilana or Rayon.

Is there an automated or semi-automated way to choose the thread color based on a color in the artwork? For instance, one brown ear in my drawing is RGBA 692518ff. Or, do I just have to eye-ball it, based on the colors shown in the switches?

Thanks for any advice or help.

    -Kevin

To match  color to an object select it, call the Dropper tool (D) choose+click the specific color to change it or check Status Bar for the hex values.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, it's not an answer to the question I asked. I want to find the match from a particular set of swatches (the Ink/Stitch Madeira Burmilana or Rayon colors) to the color that I can pick using the Dropper, or just select by selecting the filled shape.

Depends on your use case... if you want to export a threadlist, you can select a color palette in the print pdf (Extensions > Ink/Stitch > Visualize and Export > Print PDF). There click on Settings > Design. There you'll find a list of available thread palettes you can chose from and the pdf output and threadlist export will chose nearest colors from this palette.

If you actually want to apply the colors to the design in your document ... you could try a development build, wait for the next official release (not any time soon) or eyeball the colors.

If you want to try a development release tell me so and I send you a link.
