I updated to Catalina (may be regretting that), removed old Inkscape, downloaded Beta but it will not install into application folder. I can launch the dmg, get the Inkscape app to appear but it just slides behind the dock or sits on top of app folder if I open that to try and copy it in. Also tried to copy and paste it, Copy is greyed out. Anyone else having this issue? Any solutions?
It sounds like you are trying to launch Inkscape from the DMG itself. You need to drag the Inkscape icon from the DMG into your Applications folder before launching it.
I am not trying to launch from dmg, you need to open that to get the icon that is supposed to be installed into app folder. I cannot drag that into the app folder, that is the problem. It never copies into it, just sits on top or slides behind the dock if I try to drag it into the app folder that way. I have tried opening the app folder, opening it in finder, trying copy and paste (not available). I have installed MANY programs, this has never happened before and I can't seem to find any info about this issue.

I haven't had any difficutly with this. Are you able to select "Inkscape.app" in the open DMG window?
Did you find out how to install inkscape? I am having the same issue and I can't figure out how to download
