Wen I EXPORT an image (I drew myself), I select DOCUMENT>EXPORT SELECTED ONLY. I tried both
.jpg and .png. Then, when I import that image (to check it), then I import that image. It has a background.
I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Make sure to use PNG as JPG don´t support alpha channel and Bit Depth is set to RGBA 8:
I'm having this same problem with the new Inkscape 1.2.2 version. My images have no background but it adds a background to each image as I try to export PNGs. Did you figure out a solution @garystan52?
