I am on Linux / Manjaro 24.0.0 Wynsdey and I am using Inkscape 1.3.2 installed (and upgraded) from the pamac package.
When I try to generate LaTeX expressions with Extensions>Text>LaTeX (pdflatex) I get the following error message:
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.141592653-2.6-1.40.26 (TeX Live 2024/Arch Linux) (preloaded format=pdflatex) I can't find the format file `pdflatex.fmt'!
I have installed LaTeX from the texlive-bin package. It is working perfectly outside of inkscape. Also I can find the pdflatex.fmt file in /usr/local/texlive/2024/texmf-var/web2c/ and in /var/lib/texmf/web2c/pdftex/.
Using the textext extension gives me the same error.
This is the first time I try to include math with LaTeX directly in Inkscape so I don't know if it was working with previous versions or not.
I tried to look for similar problems but couln'd find any related ones. The only clue I have is that it might be linked to permissions issues.
I found the problem: another version of texlive (the package 'texlive-bin') had been installed as a dependency of another package. I removed texlive-bin with pamac, and then the only version of texlive left on my computer was the working one. After that, the LaTeX extension and the textext extension were working!
Sorry for this (quickly solved) problem, but maybe it could help other.
