Using Inkscape with Other Programs dxf file has no content when opened in Autocad

When I first ran Inkscape I was able to open the save as copy dxf file in Autocad. Now all I get is an image that says "Please purchase CAD Image DLL to remove this text www.cadsofttools.com - Evaluation Version -".

I tried removing and reinstalling Inkscape but haven't gotten anywhere.

Sounds like you are using a trial or bootleg version of CAD software.

There are good open source CAD software options... librecad, freecad, etc.

No, I am using a fully licensed version of Autocad.

I save dxf from Inkscape almost daily.

What version of DXF are you saving the copy as?

Double-clicking the dxf to open may be opening another program (like Irfanview), not Acad.

Feel free to share a dxf file you have created in Inkscape.

    Thanks for the help, Tyler.

I just reinstalled Inkscape using all the defaults. Made no changes in the dialog boxes.

Ran program, selected new document in first dialog, went to File..Open, selected pdf file (raster format, could not import into Autocad, only attach), clicked ok with defaults again. Preview shows up fine. Use trace bitmap and again accept all the defaults. Remove original pdf so just traced version is showing. Save file as Desktop Cutting Plotter (Autocad DXF R14). Again accept all defaults in the Save dialog.

I have attached the license info and the dxf.

One more quick note... When I try to open the file in Autocad I get a pop up like I'm typing a command that say "Press enter to continue."

Just expanding Tyler's initial comment. Try opening your dxf file directly from within AutoCAD's interface itself using their open/import document dialog rather that using Windows to figure out which program to use.

Sometimes, either double-clicking, or right-clicking and choosing open with> or edit, on a file within the OS itself can produce unreliable behaviour, especially if you have multiple pieces of software on the machine that are capable of handling files with a particular extension.

The dxf opens fine in MoI3D, opens with slight delay in LibreCad and takes forever, but opens in Fusion 360 after converting to DXF v2007.

I suggest removing all the tiny texture elements in Inkscape before saving the SVG as dxf... they are just bloat and drag the systems down.

PS, you are probably aware that the file is not a centerline-trace, so solid lines in the PDF are now filled shapes. Not the best workflow.

    I was not, Tyler.
