Dear Inkscapers,

As a digital artist from Serbia, I plan to use InkScape with an AxiDraw pen plotter. So far, I like the interface and the functionalities. Great job.

I had a problem regarding single stroke fonts and the Hershey Text, the one you get with the AxiDraw extension. It works fine for English, but I couldn't make it work for other letters of the Latin Extended and Cyrillic alphabets, such as "š", "đ", "ž".

For example, when I type in "škola" (it means a "school" in Serbian) and try to render it as a Hershey Sans 1-stroke (via Hershey Text), I get "kola". The letter "š" (sh) is not being rendered.

Cyrillic doesn't work at all.

The same goes for all other fonts included within the Hershey Text extension (Hershey Sans, Hershey Stroke, EMS, etc).

The fonts included with Hershey Text include the basic English characters plus © ® ¢ º ¹ ² ³ ° ª × € £ Ø ø ¥ ¡ ¿¨ Ä Ë Ï Ö Ü Ÿ ä ë ï ö ü ÿ ` À È Ì Ò Ù à è ì ò ù ´ Á É Í Ó Ú Ý á é í ó ú ý Â Ê Î Ô Û â ê î ô û Ã Ñ Õ ã ñ õ Åå Ç ç ¸¼ ½ ¾ Ðß “ ” ÷ - – — Ă Ĕ Ğ Ĭ Ŏ Ŭ ă ĕ ğ ĭ ŏ ŭ ˘ Ş ş İ ı Æ æ.

The fonts that were used as sources for these fonts do not include Cyrillic glyphs. If you would like to contribute a single-stroke Cyrillic font, that would be helpful.

I've just added a short comment on the GitLab page you've provided. In short, there is a need for following characters:

Š, š
Ž, ž
Č, č
Ć, ć
Đ, đ

That would cover the entire Serbo-Croatian alphabet, i.e. the Latin alphabet of Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, and Montenegro.

As for the Cyrillic glyphs, thanks for the suggestion. At the moment, I don't have time for doing that, but it is a good idea and I'll rethink about it after I my workload relaxes.
