I had the pleasure* of writing about Inkscape 1.4 for LWN.net before the release, but never got around to sharing it on the forum. I know some may not see 1.4 as a big deal, but it's setting the stage for some good things to come, and brings some much-needed features too. You can check out the article here, and follow my blog for more updates on my Inkscape coverage across the interwebs.
Great article! Really helped me understand what were the new features in 1.4.
The booleans are really an interesting area... I only did a bit of testing but did notice how well they were compared to Illustrator.
It's just a known thing in Illustrator you never touch booleans so it would be really interesting to do some stress testing here and figure out how difficult a case they can handle.
Also I was not aware that the filter gallery was tied into the W3C-standard... kind of cool and makes sense that you want all these feature to be compatible with web browsers... Kind of neat opens up some new workflows for web tech.
Great article! Thanks for doing this! For sure got me excited about all the progress and where Inkscape is going...
