I just upgraded to Inkscape 1.2.1 (9c6d41e4, 2022-07-14), on a MacBook Air (13-inch, Late 2010) running macOS 10.13.6. I have touble remembering what the icons mean (too old!), and so I rely heavily on the tips when hovering with the cursor.
The tips are still there when I'm looking at the Preferences dialog, but I am missing them in other dialogs, most notably the Align and Distribute dialog, which has always been very challenging for me, especially the Distribute part.
Did those just go away with 1.2 and I've missed it in the changes list? Or is there a preference I have failed to tick?
I may have to do all my distributing by hand if it's gone. . . .
