yes I watched your video or the video no difficulty at all yet I am getting errors after i go to the download as g-code it continues to say cannot save as gcode, but there seems to be no examples for errors, or explainations on how to fix these bugs, so I hope someone could eventually inform me of a fix,

    Welcome to both of you!

Bill Lawrence, please start a new topic for your problem.  Even if it were exactly the same problem as this we still prefer you start a new topic.  Thanks!

Aliaj, in the future, you might want to try a video which is narrated, or even a text video.  You are trying to do something quite complex, and not really appropriate for a beginner.

The reason you don't have Save As gcode in your menu, is because you have not installed that particular extension.  And unless you have the kind of machine which is compatible with the Makerbot extension, it likely won't work.  I think there is more than one Makerbot extension for Inkscape.  This is one: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5986

However, I suggest you do a little more research, to make sure that's the extension you need, and not some other one.  I don't know how many there are, but I'm guessing at least 20 or 30 extensions that produce gcode, for various machines.  There's one set of extensions that are built into Inkscape and don't need to be installed.  They need to be used in a specific order, so if you decide to try those, let us know, so we can explain.

    No worries, Bill  🙂

Aliaj, I just found out from  whoever answered Bill's message, that that extension has been discontinued - meaning that it's broken and will not be fixed - at least not by its original author.  Someone else may fix it someday.

It would be better, I think, for you to investigate your hardware, so you can select the best extension to create gcode, for your particular machine.  Sorry for the misinformation.
