Has there been a significant increase in the items that Inkscape does on Windows and Linux but won't do on Macintosh?
The latest stable version does not support a whole bunch of things on the Mac (the keyboards is what drives me crazy), but I need to be able to open EPS files. I've tried online converters, but the SVGs they make won't open in Inkscape.
When I complained to the site that posted the EPS files (Vecteezy), they say it's fine. (Although at least once, I got somebody on Windows to try it, and it didn't work for her, either.)
Upgrading and the downgrading again is a huge production number, so I'd appreciate knowing if it's worth upgrading without having to do that.
I'm using Inkscape 1.3 beta on macOS 13.4. I downloaded some randomly selected free images from Vecteezy. These were delivered as EPS files, which Inkscape opened without errors.
Can you post a link to one of the images that's causing problems for you?
Please forgive me, Paddy_CAD, but things have gotten a little nutty in real life. I appreciate your kindness and hope you'll still feel it when I have a chance to get back to this.
My problem is really more the keyboard. I can't get back the familiar keystrokes that I had in Inkscape 1.0. Drives me nuts. I tried saving the default keyboard from 1.0 under another name and using it in 1.1.2. It didn't work.
It turns out the image in question is actually a PNG stuck inside an EPS file. I've pointed this out to Vecteezy, my friend has, and yet they insist the problem is in our set.
Sigh. I wish I had any skill at drawing and didn't have to rely on tweaking others' work. . . .
Can someone at least tell me if the keyboards are usable now?
I really need the keystrokes I used in 1.1, but none of the included keyboards seem to have the shortcuts from 1.1, and trying to import the 1.1 keyboard doesn't seem to work.

My apologies for the delay. Family issues.
