#inklinea's Inset/Outset suggestion can work if you specify params such as px, pt, mm, etc., but it replaces the original, so you need to duplicate the original first, and I'm not sure this this what you were asking..
So, I'm going to make some assumptions (which is never a good idea).
If you use the calligraphy tool, it does make double lines (though it's a single stroke around an object), but I do not think this is what you are asking.
If you use the pencil tool, or the bezier tool you get a single stroke. Since you said 'Draw', I'm guessing you are using the pencil tool or Bezier thing.
You can click on path -> stroke to path, this will create a separate but grouped object.
The path width seems to depend on the initial stroke width - but since it's Inkscape, not always.
Click on the 'Edit Paths By Nodes' Tool.
Assuming Inkscape does not all of a sudden, randomly and without reason, now need 10 seconds to zoom in every 10%, you should be able to zoom in, and see two paths, at least before your kids have kids.
The best way to do what you may want to do, is to draw your original line thick. Perhaps, 2 for line width? Draw your line. Copy your line, twice. Center your copies over the original. Change line thickness to 0.25 ? Move each line to the outside or inside aspect of your original line. Manipulate the nodes until it looks good. Delete original line.
Hi there,
I have got a question which I can not find the answer for (I'm sure it's possible).
When I draw something I see one line. Where can I find a tool to dubble my first line? Just for accempel 2 mm inwards.
Thanks is you can help!
Greetings Meebloeien
Have a look at Inset and Outset:

The live path effect LPE Offset will exactly will do just that:
