So I am trying to make an export a round badge. I have three layers (layer 1 transparent, layer 2 - a white circle, layer 3 a logo to go inside the circle)
When I export it comes out as square? When I just want the circle.... Any ideas.
I'm aware that when using the circle drawing tool the area is square.
Not too much information, but in the export options you have several possibilities, including "export select only". So if you want the circle and its interior only, select them and use that option.

Screen shot below. I made the circle red so you can see all layers
Please share the Inkscape SVG that has the issue.

Thank you both. I have tried a number of export options, but still getting a square. SVG attached. Circle is meant to be white.
Seems to be working here.
These are my export settings... they will appear after clicking the export button, if the checkbox is un-ticked.
Thank you. This is what I get, but it is still a square....
This last image you shared is jpg. Jpg does not support transparency, so you will always have that square. Export in png, for example.
I think you are exporting as jpg not png as referenced by @TylerDurden above.
Here is what I get in UM22.04 Inkscape 1.2 exporting as png
Changed circle to white and ellipse at top to black fill.
Hi, Both.
Thanks so much. Being an amateur, I didn't know this!
I now have my badge : )
