This topic is a place to casually share what you did or made with Inkscape. You can simply describe what you did, or include details and pictures.
Yesterday I helped a makerspace member use Inkscape with a Roland vinyl cutter make a "Taco-cat" sticker.
A couple days ago, I updated the Electronic Symbols file on Launchpad, because some of the icons had not been converted to symbols. It is attached below.
(And of course, I spend some time here on the forums almost every day.)
Nice topic, Tyler! Let me join you here and see what others come up with.
Last week I have been busy re-styling older files. My husband and I made instruction cards for kids, physical education. He is a teacher and I am an artist. The first drawings I made, years ago, with a pencil and scanned those. Then I somehow edited them in GIMP tomake the lines smooth, which was very tedious. These were black and white drawings, printed on yellow paper.
After a while I learned how to use Inkscape and that was a lot quicker. Right now I am making them into a digital book. In this way teachers can print their own copy. But the old files with the traced lines are still there... With a purple filter, some shadows and gradients it looks more modern.
During this process I learned a lot about tracing and drawing.
Hi Tyler, The door opened when you got to know Inkscape... Yes! I totally understand this feeling! That is, after I figured out how to change the settings of the pencil tool. Before that my computer froze every time I used that tool (using Windows95 then).
A dozen mockup logos, that is good work and exciting too. Maybe we'll see those later?
I have been trying out several video editors. For example how much is svg compatible with Kdenlive or OpenToonz? Not having to export every frame by hand would make it a lot faster to animate svg.
My latest is a (fast) drawing of a unicorn, which I did just for fun to enter the Facebook Inky site's contest (which of course is to draw a unicorn). Had never drawn a horse before.
Kirstie, had to smile because I also did some PT exercises similar to yours - guess great minds think alike! These were for me personally (did a few more than these but can't find them). Got tired of not being able to do my PT because the hand drawn craziness that the PT and OT's did never made any sense once they had left my house! My PT loved it, so I gave them to her so others could benefit as well.
Hi Flamingolady Dee, Nice work, those moving legs. They are very clear. It always takes some time to make good, unambiguous instructions. We always test and then re-edit our drawings. One time the children took an exercise and were able to rotate the whole thing 90’. That was so funny! Let me see if I can find that one and post it here...
This is what it should have been, but yeah.. one kid ended up standig on his head!
Who knows where your drawings may surface in the future? The unicorn is very very sweet.

Hey Kristie, I also want to animate SVGs. How did ur findings go? DId u find a good animator software?? It would be great if u can share ur findings here.
Spent the whole dang day trying to figure out how to add metadata to folder of SVG files I made so I dont have to do each one individually. At the rate I am going, should have just done it one by one .......grrr

Looks good, Kirstie!
I also was a heavy GIMP user until I got my hands on Inkscape... it was like a door opened. :)
Yesterday, I made a dozen mockup logos for a solar energy startup. Unfortunately, I can't share the work publicly until the designs are approved.

Kirstie. Yours really show very well how to do the exercise. I'm visual, so the hand drawn chicken scratch ones by the PT didn't work well.

Hi anonym_i_ous,
I'll turn this into a new topic. Maybe there are more people who have experience with it, as I am new to this whole animation with svg.

I used Inkscape to draw fiber gaskets for a 100yr-old piece of plumbing, then cut on a laser.
Was not today, yesterday actually 🙂 an isometric vector art project, made on Arch GNU/Linux with love, have fun! https://inkscape.org/~ncklinux/%E2%98%85the-lol-shop-an-isometric-art-project
