Beyond the Basics Fullscreen mode

I regularly use Inkscape for creating presentations and I often use the Fullscreen mode for displaying the presentation because I can quickly and easily modify the presentation on-the-fly, zoom in and out, draw diagrams, annotate, move objects around, etc. while presenting (and even more so now that most of our collaboration is over Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx, etc.).  I've configured Inkscape to hide all of the various toolbars when in Fullscreen mode (F11 and then I hide the docked panels with F12), but there are two annoying issues that remain. One is that there is no way to hide the menu and the second is that there are annoying white borders on the left and right of the fullscreen window (only noticeable if you're using a dark background, which many of my slides or diagrams use).

Does anyone know how to hide the menu?  Also, is there any way to get rid of this white border at the edges?

I'm running Inkscape 1.0 on Linux Mint 20.

I don't know how to hide the menu.

I don't see  the white borders on Mint 19 Mate 64 Tara.

Thanks Tyler.  I'm running the Cinnamon edition.  It appears that it's affecting MATE as well, as your screen shot shows a thin grey line on the left and right sides, but not the bottom (consistent with mine).  I've attached two screen shots of what I see (I'm only showing the top left corner, but the border is visible on both the left and right sides).  Mine is much brighter white and, if you look at the second screenshot, you'll see that it's actually several pixels wide with a gradient.  No other application does this in full screen mode, so it seems to be something Inkscape is not implementing correctly.  I'm not sure why there is no border on the bottom, but it doesn't appear that they are removing the window borders (or, if they are, they're not disabling other aspects of window decoration, or these lines are being added by Inkscape), which other applications do in fullscreen mode.

I'm thinking the fullscreen border issue should be logged as a bug, and the option to hide the menu in fullscreen mode as a feature request.  I'm not suggesting that the menu should ever be hidden in windowed mode so, rather than including it in the View->Show/Hide menu, it should be an option in Preferences->Interface (e.g. Hide menu in fullscreen mode).

I concur, this is not likely the expected behavior. Please file a bug and request as outlined.

I'm interested on how you automatize hiding the toolbars. Edit : it's Ctrl+F11 by default.

An other option is to use a browser to display the svg during the presentation. It does not allow live editing, but it's an other easy way to get a distraction-free window.

    Newbie Inkscape user,.

How to get out of Fullscreen mode on Mac OS Monterey?

The instructions say F11, but F11 is Mac default to turn sound off. Any help much appreciated.

@Al.raceQs Perhaps by changing the keyboard shortcut

This doesn't operate as an editing screen. I think I have to edit the shortcut file (default.xml?). Where would it be located on my Mac?
