Inkscape is a tool of creative discovery. Maps and islands have been the real world equivalent of new discoveries - so the 1.2 island appeared with endless ideas hovering around it.
20 years of Inkscape is not the end of the journey but a huge milestone. The new version is built on the foundations of the previous versions and is becoming better with each iteration. It's a shining example of what is possible in open source software when a great team of dedicated developers gets together and works their magic. I tried to showcase what can be done in Inkscape with simple shapes and without fancy drawing skills. Using only a limited set of tools to create a consistent yet rich look. The piece relies heavily on gradients, tapered and power stroke path effects on simple lines and basic shapes [circles and rectangles were the starting point for most elements]. Organizing a design of this complexity was key. The improved layers and objects panel was a huge help in keeping the 2500+ objects that make this scene under control. I have been wanting to draw a squid for weeks now, so for the about screen I drew a squid using Inkscape´s versatility (and their multi-legged physique) to influence grow and change the world around them. Inspired by this year's theme of 'Growth,' I've visualised Inkscape as a majestic tree, symbolizing its vibrant creativity. Around it, the awesome users, the ever-dedicated vectors team, vigilant bug-wranglers, developers, and supportive sponsors gather, exchanging ideas and inspiring us all. Can you spot them in this scene? Together, they cultivate Inkscape, a space where imagination flourishes and artistic visions bloom into reality! My entry is all about the fun I have when working with Inkscape. It's an awesome tool and makes the creation of vector art a joy. I tried to get that vibe across as well as use some of the great features of the tool to showcase the abilities in a 'not quite like any other tool' way. Enjoy!
Here's grandma and her little grandchild, 'creating together' in Inkscape 1.3. This artwork was inspired by Inkscape's ease of use and accessibility, which this open-source software gives to its users. It also tries to illustrate the limitlessness by which Inkscape has become a great tool in graphics, even for this 15-year-old me! The new shape builder tool has made far easier and quicker boolean operations. Hearty congratulations to the Inkscape developers and contributors who 'created together' this feat of 20 years, enabling us to draw freely! This image has the 4 newest features that appeared in Inkscape 1.2. Can be seen on the top plate of the UFO plane From the left there is a Refactored Color Palette, Multiple Page Documents, New Snapping Guides, and Re-imagined Gradient Panel features. The position of the UFO plane, which is slightly tilted to the right, symbolizes dynamics, meaning that Inkscape will always advance and keep up with the times. Why did I choose the UFO plane? because it is mysterious but always a hot topic. Like Inkscape, which seems not widely known, but always brings good features that can compete with other well-known software. Hi, I made this entry for the About Screen Contest for Inkscape 1.2. I am a teen who has gained an interest in vectors starting with Adobe Illustrator. I was shown to Illustrator by my visual design teacher and I have been in love with vector graphic editors ever since. A few months later I looked into Inkscape because I know I can't pay for Illustrator. And I was amazed at how well features were implemented. So, I wish more great features will get implemented as well as all the contributors to have good luck and a bunch of fun (and more work done on this). (also the Bot's name is a WIP but for now, I call him Draw bot or Drawbe)

From my imagination I tried to make an abstraction of what the title of the 'Inkscape' program implies, as if it were an ink leak coming out of a brush, as in a surreal and artistic world. Desde mi imaginación intente hacer una abstracción de lo que supone el titulo del programa "Inkscape", como si fuera un escape de tinta que sale de un pincel, como en un mundo surrealista y artístico.

Using some of the new and old features of Inkscape. The new "Bend" and "Perspective/Envelope" were particularly helpful here. UPDATED DESIGN, 12 November, 2016.
"Cutting edge design". Certainly there have been some heavy fixation going on in this build. Still rough? May use the plane a bit more to remove the splinters. A huge shout out for the craftmenship in the making. The appearance is heavy based on the new blending modes.
