Used to (before the latest upgrade) I was able to uncheck the "page border" (screen sample; needed because I have no way of capping the dialog in the older version) and it removed the page. Well, that no longer works for me, as demonstrated in the attached screenshot
Notice how unchecking the Border option in 1.2.1 does nothing but remove just the border and not the page and I notice that the word "page" has been removed.
Can anyone explain to me how to do this? I don't want to change the background color (I love the gray) simply to make it invisible to the eye, I just I do use it occasionally but I'm looking for a way to make it disappear by default, then have an option to use it the few times that I do.
Of course! The moment I wrote this, I tried changing the page background color and poof, gone.
I prefer a checkbox right there, rather than color changes because if I'm working with a gray object, I have to change both the color and the background.
At least for now, I have figured it out...... FINALLY! It was driving me nuts.
I repeat, I have Inkscape v. 1.2.1

The desk and background colors can be set to the same value. Without the border, you cannot see the page boundaries.
Great question, though. Relocated to Tips & Tricks.
