Beginners' Questions LPE and destructive removal

Is there a way to destructively remove an LPE so only the result remains? Same question also for the application of a filter or an extension.

I have been exporting as a png, and re-importing, and then performing a trace bitmap.

For LPEs, after getting the look you want, go to Path > Object to Path. That will 'bake in' the effect. This works also for, eg, Dynamic Offset and most other path effects.

For filters, they're not vector so Object to Path won't work. Some filters will move around as you move the underlying object. To stop this, you can simply create a group from the single object and this 'freezes' it (just click the object that contains the filter, then press Ctrl + G). This allows you to tweak either the filter or the object if you need to. Alternatively, you can create a bitmap copy. Click your object to select it, then go to Edit > Make Bitmap copy. This is now a bitmap image so it can't be edited further.
