I want to create text that is scripted. I only see "Segoe Script" in the fonts pull down menu. Does anyone know if there are ways to use other types of scripted text?
Depends on your OS. I´m on macOS exclusively. Can´t tell anything about Windows/Linux derivates. But I guess selecting a font will bring up options on how you may want to install a font, for single user or all users etc.
I am on Windows 11 Polygon. It seem like maybe you don't have any solutions to offer since you are on a Mac. Maybe another member can read my post and help out. Do I need to download free script fonts from somewhere that are open to public use? Does anyone know, because I have a project due soon and need to find some good scripted fonts.
If you're going to use a lot of fonts, maybe with different licenses, I suggest not installing all of them but rather organizing them in folders by license/source and adding the folders paths to Inkscape Preferences->System->Font folders. (if you need the fonts outside of Inkscape you'll probable need to install them, but you can also try NexusFont)
I've heard that too many fonts installed can slow the computer... I'm not sure about that but I know that all the fonts mixed up in the system font folder makes it a headache if you need to identify what's the licence for a particular font! (Note: most people don't even realize that Microsoft Office fonts CAN'T be used for commercial use if they only have home/student Office license)
As for free fonts with commercial use, I recently discovered Creative Fabrica (a good free font selection and 1 "gift" free font each day) and FontBundles.net.

Inkscape is using fonts installed on your OS accessible for user/s - depending on how they´re installed.
Can you tell me more about the "How they're installed" info? When installing I didn't see an option for specific font installation?

Thanks for your help.

Thank you.
Dafont.com has a wide range of free fonts.
After downloading, open the zip file to find the .ttf file, right click and select Install from the menu.
Thanks Tyler.
