Version 1.3+ cannot import PDF files, any type of pdf file, version 1.2.2 does
Version 1.3, when opening a pdf file, takes up nearly 3GB of memory and continues to use a lot of CPU.
I tested on different computers(win11,win10) and this happened in all cases, including version 1.4beta. Even blank PDF files will encounter the same problem.
Pdf handling evolved substantially with v1.3 so problems are inevitable. However, I haven't experienced your issue. I use 1.3.2 (win10 and osx14) to import pdf files from various sources, which I've done with every Inkscape version back to 0.46 I think.
Can you upload a problematic pdf for us? A small one, preferably.
Hello, I found the possible cause in the forum, but this one I can't solve myself.
After taking a look, if the windows operating system is in Chinese, Korean and other languages (CJK font), you will encounter this problem. That's probably why you didn't reproduce the problem.
I have tried many times. Under Windows system, there will be no bugs in Latin alphabet languages (incomplete testing, including English and Azerbaijani), but there will be bugs in non-Latin alphabet languages (CJK languages (Chinese, Japanese and Chinese) and Hindi)

Hopefully this issue can be resolved.

@bbbbooo, same here as @Paddy_CAD.
I have installed the version 1.3.2 on my Mac (macOS Catalina 10.15.7) and Inkscale works normally and I can import figures from PDF.
I have solved by this link:
https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/132-and-14beta-fail-to-import-pdf-data-but-122-does
I don't know why, but solved anyway.

Dear @bbbboooo,
Please try to execute inkscape.com instead of inkscape.exe.
I do not understand why, but my problems about pdf are gone.
I hope that @bbbboooo 's problem will be solved.
