When I "Save As" I'm usually looking to save the file as the same name in the same directory but as v02 or v03. Why does InkScape present me with a blank file name box when I "Save As". Can I change that.
Also, my file is SVG and I'm trying to export it as PNG. But the file name box doesn't let me enter text and I can't export until I enter the file name. AND again, I want to save it as the same file name, just with a different extension. Why is this so difficult?
File > Save as woks (for me) as you expect. I see your screenshot refers to the 'Export' panel. Behavior would be mainly the same, except if you use 'Selection' tab. You can also check if this option is enabled :
I've had a similar confusion with saving / exporting. The tab for this just isn't intuitive at all - I actually avoid using it for fear of saving over my main documents. I'll play around with preferences and see if it helps my understanding.
