I'm jumping on this challenge idea because it sounds fun. My challenge is aimed at beginners upward, and those who want to practice their design skills.
Create a poster for an imaginary festival. Choose one of the following themes:
A music festival
A book/literary festival
A film festival
Your poster should include the details listed below:
The name of the festival
The date(s) of the event
Location details
This list is the minimum information that must be included. If you want to add other details, go right ahead. (For example, a music festival could include some band names, or you could design a logo for the festival etc etc).
I'd suggest A4 in size, but if you prefer different dimensions, it's entirely up to you. Everything on the poster must be created in Inkscape, so please don't include photos or other JPG/PNG images (if you want to use a photo as a design aid while you're working, that's fine, but the final product should be vector only, entirely created by you).
You can make the design as simple or as detailed as you want, but it's a good opportunity to experiment with design, colour and typography. Mostly, it's a chance to have fun with Inkscape. 😃
When you're done, export a PNG of your poster and share it with us. I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do!
I was thinking about a digital book festival, something for the most part done online. A live stream from a library, with authors as guests and the ability to read the books from the library in digital form.. This is my entry. Technically speaking, a logo and sponsors are needed but I'm happy with the result, so I'll leave it as is. 😅
Nice work! I normally get a bit twitchy when there are so many fonts in one design, but this works very well and fits the theme. I like your choice of colour too. Nice contrasts without being 'in your face'. And such an interesting panel of guests too! 😄
Thanks for joining in. Hope you enjoyed the process.
The guys from the "MUVE" festival are pretty ambitious, aren't they? They started from New York, yet already thinking about moving to the space (hopefully, cinema is a thing there too!) I couldn't dedicate to it, more time. Don't mind the lineart near the sun; it was meant to be a satellite. lol
Festivals usually have a professional for the poster and those go by years of experience in graphic design.
Both in the stylistic trends that suit the festival and typographic design.
To top that, music festivals are full of band logos which were designed previously by other professionals mostly.
For a beginner I'd say it's really a hard job to make something of that level.
Aabyway, recently joined a kind of spec site that sells artwork printed and you get comission -they advertised with a contest to draw something by the "space" theme.
Uploaded something there which will probably not make it since it went after the deadline and missing a tag.
But, felt the design would fit well with a music festival.
Something psychedellic rock/technical post metal -thinking of IAH/Naxatras or Exivious/Tesseract/Widek, something in between.
Like modern version of Hawkwind's Space Ritual.
Didn't include the band names nor a decent festival name just placeholders, but here it goes:
Oh and on a side note there should be serious development on the gradient banding issue.

I'd already have a poster for a conference at hand, no time for a festival, unfortunately :)

I'll need to get to work on my entry soon...

Improve the concept if you wish.

Lazur, love it. Very inspirational, as I need to modernize much of my design thought process.
Hi.
Here are 300 posters I designed for Cave12 concert hall (Geneva) between 2012 and 2015.

I encount serious problems with inkscape 1.0 with MacOS Catalina and working with it on a daily basis has unfortunatelly become a hassle.
Hello
More specifically here is the poster of Sonic Protest Festival 2018, France.
