Hi and thanks for this challenge!

Starting this off with a project I finished this week, a glowing Inkscape icon, a fiery mountain of doom, lol:

I got the 3D-printed Inkscape icon from Jabier some time ago, and always wanted to make something special out of it. For the light, I used a magnetic, 3xAAA powered LED lamp, a slice of a chick pea tin, black cardboard, normal cardboard, nail polish, glue, black electrician's tape, clear tape, reflective aluminum tape and a bit of acrylic color and black marker.

If you look closely, you'll notice the icon is mirrored - that's because I liked the smooth surface on the downfacing part of the printed plastic more than the side with the curved plastic strands. Also looks more 🤘
(outside of the competition, it's not drawn!)

    Hey,
Thanks for the opportunity which allows us to show our skills using Inkscape.
Here's a logo I designed this week for the challenge. As you may see it depicts a rooster with a cockscomb with the looks of a flame. This logo was designed for a fictionnal restaurant company called "Roostiery" which sells grilled poultry. I wanted to design something simple yet elaborated so we know what the company is all about.

I also have the logo with the colors inverted should you be interested.

    Thanks again!

I've been using Inkscape off and on for simple, quick text layouts for years. Recently I was looking for a tutorial on something and found this forum. I then saw the challenge and had a few hours on Monday and put this together. My biggest illusion was to mimic the force of impact. Inkscape only constructs 3d cubes. No rotated cones. Then, I accidently created a star object with a lot of points and noticed that since they radiated out, I could mask the unnecessary points and it would serve for the typical outward expanse method of illustrating an explosive event.

I would love to have Inkscape produce a "perspective" from generated "textures" to simulate distance. Smaller farther away, larger up close.

Had to use a online converter to rasterize as png. Inkscape kept freezing on Mac and Windows.

Attempted to flatten effects and make it easier. Evidently, flattening does not accomplish what I thought it might.

This was another idea I had before falling asleep last night and put most of it together this morning before work.
