In my project, most of the lines have round end caps, but a few of them require one end to be tapered. Unfortunately, I keep getting square ends on the non-tapered ends.
Is there any way to direct the Taper Stroke LPE to give me a round end cap on one end, or do I have to do Stroke to Path and do it by hand? I find it quite difficult to get good results that way.
Now seeing how Power Stroke works, in what situations would Taper Stroke be preferable? It looks to me now like just a less useful version of Power Stroke. It's still part of Inkscape, though, so I must be missing something.
Taper is much faster if you only want a simple tapered stroke. You don't need to select options and apply parameters. It's simple and fast. Power stroke is more, well, powerful, but it can take longer to achieve what you want, as you need to manually apply settings. I'm glad to have both options there.
That makes sense. I figured I was missing something, and I was! (Both times.) Thanks!
I'll check doing it with the Node tool rather than an LPE. LPEs make me nervous. They can be difficult and unpredictable, and stacking 'em on Mac has never seemed to work.
I'm making this file for people who are not graphics mavens, so avoiding something with a lot of settings is probably a good idea.
Hi, all

Thank you!
Instead of using the Taper Stroke LPE, use the Power Stroke LPE instead. You can set different parameters for each end with that path effect.
So you can! Thanks!

The Bézier tool has options for "Shape" and can be altered by the node tool. No call for LPE needed:

Thanks again!
