Beyond the Basics Rotate an object around an external point

As shown in my image I moved the first 14 numbers individually to their new positions.

It then occurred to me that somewhere within Inkscape's impressive (but dauntingly huge) feature set there may be a way to select the remaining 10 and shift them all as a group a few degrees counter clockwise?
Or even do that individually, which would still be much faster than my present method?

Sure enough, a google search for 'inkscape rotate an object around some external point' gave me this:
    --------------------
To rotate an object around an external point in Inkscape, you can:
1.Select the object with the Selector tool
    2.Click Object > Transform or press Shift + Ctrl + M
    3.Select the Rotate tab
4.Click the down arrow and choose a unit of measurement
5.Enter the amount to rotate in the Angle field
6.Click the Clockwise or Counter-clockwise icon
    7.Click Apply
    --------------------
Like most 'AI Overviews' (which are now usually the first hit), this was quite wrong. (It rotates around the centre of the selected object or group of objects, not an external one.)

Anone know a way to do it please?

    --------------------

P.S. Why does this forum display the composition window at such a small size? On my 1920 x 1200 Win 10 screen it uses about a quarter. And on my iPhone the threads themselves are barely readable.

You can find a tutorial by @Moini (in German - use translator in your browser) here: https://vektorrascheln.de/posts/2016/Jun/inkscape-entdecker-anordnen1/

Thanks but judging by its length that looks hard work! Google Translate has so far been ‘unavailable’ but I’ll persist. Any English speaking user

     with any suggestions?

    In essence it´s pretty eaasy:

    1. Make a text object for every number

    2. draw a circle and don´t convert it - rotate it to make the "West" pointing at "North" to start numbering at the top and clockwise.

    3. Add select with shift increasing the numbers by starting with 1 up to 24 then at last the Circle and hit "Arrange"

Here´s a translation of that part:

    Instruction for a clock

    Numbers arranged on a circle
As the above explanation sounds rather complicated, it is probably best if you simply try it out using an example:

Create 12 different objects, one for each number on the clock.
    Create a circle.
Now rotate the circle so that the start of the circle (round handles) is at 0 o'clock, i.e. at the top (i.e. rotate the circle 90° anticlockwise).
Open the Arrange dialog, Polar coordinates tab (Object Arrange).
Remove the checkmark next to Rotate objects.
Select the center of the object frame as the anchor point.
Now flip the circle horizontally (h key) (this reverses the direction of the circle) and add the objects to the selection in the normal order (1, 2, ..., 12) (hold down the Shift key) or do not flip the circle and select the objects in the wrong order (first 11, then 10, 9, ..., then 12!).
Also select the circle (continue to hold down the Shift key).
    Click on Arrange.

Thanks, appreciate your help. I’ll get onto that asap.
